Good morning! Well….I have two new knees (knew knees lol). I had the right one replaced on 1/5/18 and the left one replaced 3/2/18. I also had to move, a month post op, on 3/31/18 (thank God I had lots of help!) I’m living in a town that I lived in for years when I first moved from California to Washington State almost 14 years ago.
I am finally ready to get back into the pool at the gym and focus on my weight loss/fitness goals again. To make these knees last and recover from the sciatica I’ve had for several months, I need to get about 80lbs off and get lean and strong. So this is the time…it has never been so critical for me to REALLY work at getting the weight off and getting healthy. So I rejoined Weight Watchers (highly recommended…in my opinion the best weight loss program out there because its livable) and am going to my old gym, the one I used to go to about five years ago, to sign up and see about starting Aqua Fit classes.
But first, I’m going to make Breakfast Quinoa. I used to make it often, a few years ago but today I’m trying a new recipe. Its from Epicurious. Here’s the link….
Review to come…..
After years of “eating my feelings”, buffets and general couch potato shenanigans, my knees became severely arthritic. I just had one knee surgery and will be having the other knee replaced soon. This has been my “whoa there” moment. At 50 I am making a commitment to get healthy. After years of neglect, I may never have the body that looks the way I want it to, but I hope to gain the body that feels and works the way I want it to!
I’m using the Weight Watchers food plan to get some weight off and once I’m able to be active I’ll be incorporating activity into my life. I want to hike, bike, swim and walk walk walk one day. I know I need to take baby steps (pun intended) so let the those steps begin!
I am also a recovering addict and I see in myself the same addictive behavior around food that I have around drugs and alcohol. It’s all about self medication, whether its food or substances. You know that saying that knowledge is power? I’m working on putting it all together to build a healthier me so that the last half of my life is more enjoyable than the first half.
I hope you’ll enjoy my posts, leave some comments and help me stay accountable. Maybe this will help you too in whatever you are working on in your life! Namaste.
